Rescuing Sprite by Mark Levin

I went to a local book signing last night to meet Mark Levin, well known radio talk show host, and get a copy of his new dog book. He wrote a very heartwarming book about a dog he rescued from the shelter and how Sprite changed his life. I can't wait to read it! I got my three copies signed by Mark Levin. As an added bonus, Sean Hannity and Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels here in NYC, were there too signing books! So I got 3 signed books signed by them all! One copy I bought for a friend, at her request, so I am sure she will be thrilled with this book too!
I am sure everyone here would love reading this book!

I'm reading this now. A friend at work gave it to me.

I'm about 3/4 through it. While the story is thus far quite touching, I'm not impressed with his writing.

On the other hand, when I'm not impressed with someone's writing, it further encourages me to write more, so that's a good thing!

Still writing.

I have lots and LOTS of notes, and many completed chapters.

I am a major OCD-type, so it's got to be perfect before I let even an editor see it. My Tech book took 1.5 years and was supposed to be done in 9 months. It paid off though - it's doing quite well.

Originally it was supposed to be about Cozy and me, and then I realized that was only half the story since I was leaving Daisy and Lauren out. That caused a major upheaval in the process.

The good news is that I wasn't real happy with the Cozy and me view, and I'm liking the whole family view a lot better. The original title was "Cozy my Cozy". Now I'm thinking "A Tale of Two Newfies".

Reading all these other pet memoirs stirs up memories which is awesome. I write them down in a little journal I carry with me so I don't forget.

Anyway to answer you question, it's still there - it's just not done yet.

It's interesting that you mention this. Jacques was just talking about it the other night.

He said that it's such a vastly different Mark Levin that talks about his dogs versus the one who's on the talk show(s).

I do plan on reading it...doubt I'll buy it tho. Libraries can be wonderful things!

I'll be looking for your book, GAD!!

I finished it last night. Again the story is very touching.

The writing is odd - in some sections it's quite enjoyable, and in other sections it's so choppy as to be distracting.

It's obvious that he loves his dogs, and that's really the point of the book.

I think Mark writes the way he speaks actually, and sometimes it is slow and deliberate, especially when it is not a political topic. He was very soft spoken and humble at the book signing. It was nice to see that side of him, since it is a contrast to some of his on the air political rantings. I found it interesting also that he broadcasts his show from his basement with his dogs present.
