Reluctant Husband

Well, I'm ready to make the trip out to Ohio, but I'm sensing some reluctance on the part of my DH. It's about an 8 hour drive for us, so not that bad. And probably only need to take one day off of work. We can put the dogs in their crates in the back of the truck, and everyone will be comfy.

So, I'm not quite sure what the problem is. We've traveled to several other internet gatherings (we also ride dirt bikes) and had a wonderful time meeting new people from around the country with the same interests. Maybe he is ashamed that we don't have a "pure" Newf to bring with? Maybe he doesn't think he'll have anything else in common with everybody?
I just don't know. Maybe he's like the dogs, and he needs to have a job to do!
Hmm. Help me out, how can I convince him to spend a long weekend in Ohio this July?

Many people are coming that don't have newfs. So that cannot be an excuse!! If he needs something to do, I am sure we can find lots of things for him to do. We will need someone to row the boat or to be drowning victims. Actually we need at least two people in the boat.

I now proclaim your hubby to be official captian of the boat. So he has a job and will be needed!!

If he has any interest at all in aviation, or military history, The Air Force Museum is in Dayton, which is about 45 mintues from Jeannie's. Maybe that would be an incentive!!!! Here is a link: Air Force Museum

Mine didn't want to do it either but he agreed one night after having a few cocktails...maybe that will work for you too! :D Mine was mostly reluctant because it involves 11+ hours in the car with two dogs and two kids. He thinks I'm nuts but then again I am. Sorta. I'll bet you can find some really good reasons for him to go...Tell him my husband will need someone else to keep from insanity during the trip! Good luck.

I just saw this thread! My husband looked at me like I was nuts the first time I mentioned this to him...I pretty much told him I'd find my way there one way or another without him. (I am terribly map challenged...would have found my way there...but probably a weekend late!LOL)

Anyway...upon meeting some NN's at Nationals, the topic of golf was brought up...my hubby spotted the course there and was dying to go golfing. I told him to go ahead-I didn't care! LOL Benson's Mom said her husband golfs..and Jeannie said there is a golf course a couple of miles from her house. Does your hubby golf? Or anyone else's hubby want to golf? Any og the girls? I know my husband would be more than happy to go golfing for at least 9!

There's no reason to be ashamed that your dog isn't full newf! My jack isn't, but I have to say... he's got the best part of every breed in him. Sometimes.... the "full-blooded mutts" are the best dogs. I would bring my Jack if I could!

Hey Kelly, my hubby likes to golf, but doesn't get to much. I'm sure he'd have no problem throwing his clubs in the truck if your DH would like a golf buddy.

Amy, I'll be sure to tell my hubby that he has a potential golf buddy! :D Kevin doesn't get to golf much either...so they might both get a few laughs!
