regurgitating water

Hello!

Ella is now 19 months old, 105 lbs, and she started regurgitating water soon after she drinks large amounts. I didn't think to worry at first (maybe 3 weeks ago), but with google pointing at early signs of megaesophagus, just thought i'd ask here before going to the vet. It is not throwing up, since it just comes out, fairly shortly after drinking. She has not regurgitated any food, so this is good, but still, she used to not have any problems at all when drinking large amounts of water. Any other signs I should watch for or things I can do? She is already drinking from a raised bowl.

We used to call this "water burps". Most of ours have done this, especially when it's really hot.

Yes, I agree with Nina. Seems to be a Newf thing. Usually, you're sitting on the sofa when your dog comes and burps up a sloppy mess in your lap. I don't think it's anything to worry over, but you can always see a vet to put your mind at ease if you need.

I am of a different inclination and would get it checked.... My friends dog did this and it was actually LP.... It does depend on the amount of course, but if in doubt, get it checked

I would get it checked but not lose sleep about it. The burping up water is pretty common, we have to regulate our one newf and our boxer/hound for this.

A water burp should be a small amount of water and shortly after getting a big drink. Also, water burps would happen once a day and with mine generally in the summer. I agree that large amounts should be checked on.

Thanks guys! Her water burping has gone down a lot since I posted, and now it is a very rare occasion and smaller amounts, compared to every day and a 6-8in puddle. She does not drink large amounts of water in a single sitting anymore like she did in the summer, and this is on her own choice. Started exercising more as well, which makes her thirsty more frequently, and not just around meal time.

Thanks for your input everyone!
