Recommend PYR book?

My brother and his family are about to get a Pyr pup. They have had Dalmations and Labs and mixes, but never a Pyr. Friends of theirs (not real breeders, just people who have a male and female) have the parents and the pup has already been chosen.

Is there a good book about Great Pyrs, that tells all about the history of the breed, what it instinctively does, and how to train/socialize one to be a family dog? I want to give them the tools they will need to successfully raise this pup (they're getting a female). They have an elderly lab and a husky-mix right now. Two teenaged daughters...no little kids.

This will be an outside dog, who sleeps in the garage at night, like their other dogs.

have a look at amazon especially the reviews and there is normally always a particular book for any breed that stands out

if they are interested in a board similar to NN but with a lot of Pyr owners, send me a pm. i can recommend one for you.

they may want to contact Pyr rescue in their area as well. Ursa didn't come from rescue but the local group has been very generous with info and advice when needed.

There are 2 books that are out of print that would have to look for them at out of print shops:
The Complete Great Pyrenees by Strang & Giffin
The New Complete Great Pyrenees by Strang
The other book that's in print is by Joseph Gentzel, Great Pyrenees Owners Handbook.
Check for them on Amazon.
