Puppy School

Halli's Mom

New member
We went to Puppy School on Saturday -- first day. most of the puppies were a little nervous, but ALL of them were afraid of Halli! Now, the smaller dogs (there was a little schnauzer, a tiny dachsund, and an 8lb french bulldog) I can understand. But there was a GIANT Great Dane who cowered under a chair. Poor Halli was like Baby Huey!

She just wanted to play....I think she will have a complex!

BUT, on the UPSIDE, she was the star of her class, displaying SIT, DOWN, COME and STAND. (I'm such a proud MOM)

Congratulations!
I remember when I took Bryce to his first puppy class. LOL! He was big alright! But he made friends right away because that was part of the class. And he was a social butterfly fluttering about. I was very surprised to see how many little puppies weren't. They too would cower. But, the instructors encouraged people to let their little dogs come meet him so they wouldn't grow up fearing big dogs.

In the later class, an obedience class, Bryce befriended a tiny little cairn terrior. She didn't even come up to his knees! We watched those two play for 20 minutes in one class (we should've been training, but we were all so intriqued with the playing). It was great because now Bryce knows how to be nice to little ones, and the little one knows that the big guys can be nice. It's too bad so many other little dog owners fear socializing their little ones around the big breeds.
