Pet store newf

I went to visit that newf at the pet store today with my 3 1/2 year old...he will be 3 mos tomorrow, and I have the breeders info and the broker info...I am going to try to find the breeder and talk to her...I may be interested in rescuing him...what will I be getting into? Also, he is VERY nippy...would you guess it's because he has been cooped up? The store guarantees the pet for 1 year up to $1500 for hereditary defects. Any thoughts? Thanks,

Michelle

Ok...now this is really breaking my heart, but I don't know if I am ready to take this on, or what may lie ahead...this pup came from a brokerage called "Honey Dew"...it does not have a good background, and dateline has done pieces on it.

The pup came from Mo, I have all it's information, but now I don't know what to do with it.

This "Honey Dew" broker is owned by Hunte Corp, and they put out 35000 dogs each year...that poor pup, and I have to say the store has changed since the last time I was there...they used to be in glass, now they are in individual kennels. He is a BIG boy, and he really needs a bath. I have been reading that the stores are "coached" on what to say, and make it look like there is a breeder, when in actuality it's just someone who pumps out pups.

Yes, Laurene...the link did work. What a catch 22...you hate to see those poor dogs be in there, knowing they have had very little human companionship, but at the same time, you hate to feed into it.

PetLand buys all the puppies from Honey Dew, which is owned by the Hunte Corp. you are correct. My girl friend bought a puppy from PetLand, he had kennel cough so bad, it took 4 months to clear it up with meds. He has also had 2 operations, he is only 2 years old.. My heart is sad on this topic
There could be a lot more wrong with these puppies, than the physical eye can see :(

Can you contact me offlist with that brokers name?
I've been doing some research and I have a feeling the broker name may be of importance.

Also, just an added thought.
Does the pup come with papers and what kind of papers? Meaning AKC, ACA?
If they are ACA I will tell you right now that probably nothing on that paper is the truth.

Hi, this is Micah's mom Karen. I read w/ a sickened heart about the pet stores... When I got Sadie our Saint 2yrs. ago, she had sooo many problems... I had purchased " a puppy mill puppy!" Sadie's medical challenges are all genetic.. She needs hip replacements & her elbows are trashed!
Our local Humane Society has it's hands tied as far as enforcing mill laws, " BUT" our Attorney Generals Office, was more than willing to listen to the facts I brought to them... My heart felt advice in this, " is help those babies'!" They need you !!!!!!!!!!!!!
