My mother in law just informed me that my dog can no longer go in her pool... Apparently after two very brief swims, the pool vacuum no longer works. I don't know that it is truly my dog's fault, but we have been blamed. Alas, after ten days of traveling and visiting various family members I have decided that we will probably be relegated to beach vacations with just our little family unit and have to forgo visiting the rest of the fam. I'm not sure I'm all that upset about it.

When we had a pool we never allowed our dog in it because of the hair clogging the filter. Now we have a pond.

Good excuse to have your own family vacations! LOL...now you don't have to feel guilty when you say you can't come!

We were hoping to get Annabel into the pool at my in-laws, but it rained so much the day leading up to our visit that the pool was bright green and yuck. Didn't give that a try. My mother-in-law was more worried about our pup's claws destroying the pool than fur clogging the filter, but that might be something that keeps us to beaches, too, once her adult coat comes in.

On the plus side, there's a massive doggy pool about 20 minutes from where we live. No traveling and family visits necessary. Yay!

I've had a pool for 23 years and the dogs have swum in the pool for 23 years. If the dog hair clogged up the vacuum and ruined it, it's because they didn't clean it. If the dog hair gets heavy in the skimmers, you put in liners to catch the hair. If they know anything about pools, they would be doing that. I wouldn't worry about it. My guess is that it's an excuse.
