Simply address it like all obedience training, leave it / off, redirect, give him something of value too as a reward when he follows thru with your request, big treat good boy or a toy he puts value on. Make it so it is worth it to him, eventually he will let it go. Change it up eventually with what he gets so he doesn't get into the rut of treat and back to get another treat (they are smart, soon figure it out cause and effect). At first treat treat treat and then maybe the second leave it only or the third time or the first change it up. Good luck
