N'zymes

Hi,

I have two dogs with yeast... one in the ears and one in the skin. The ears seemed to clear up once we went raw and with a monthly dose of Zymox...sometimes more often if needed.

But my guy with the skin has been a tough one. I have gone raw and have done an elimination diet. Unfortunately due to budget/cost issues I have only been able to go to chicken, beef, and turkey. We haven't done lamb not only due to cost, but because of high fat content and my little bears actually need to lose weight.

SO, I have done raw food, supplements, and Candida detox. I have tried ACV both in the water, food, and as a topical spray. We have also done the whole allergy medicine route but I lost my dogs doing that. They were just area rugs on that stuff.

So now I have ordered N'zymes. We are in our second week. So they are on everything but the Back Pack Plus. I also made the three topical sprays. The Ox-E-Drops 2% topical solution, Baking soda and water solution, and finally original Listerine.

I comb him out with my furminator and spray him generously with all of the sprays... concentrating on his hot spots. Using the baking soda spray to control his stinky odor. I only furminate him one - two times a week.
Bathing isn't really possible right now due to a plumbing situation as well as the fact that I don't have a drier for him. In the winter I can't get him in my tub either. So this is frustrating. I have heard from some that bathing isn't too big of a deal. I just want him to feel better and stop itching- and stinking.

Has anyone here used N'zymes? Have you had good results? Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to get the best results.

Thanks,
Amy

My Samantha use to have terrible allergies with yeast skin infections. Her allergies are still bad but the skin is great. I had these turn of events after I stopped all vaccinations. In no time I noticed a difference and now Sam has no skin issues at all

Ebony has been taking Nzymes for a while now (probably 2 yrs). She has environmental allergies. She still flares up after swims, but overall, I feel the Nzymes are keeping her from having constant itchies.

I never did the entire yeast kit that they offer, but I feel the Nzymes keep her immune system stronger than if she wasn't getting the Nzymes.

I don't have any other suggestions, but I should add that Ebony also gets ACV (added to her supper, not her water), and DermCaps, which are a fatty acid/omega supplement.

I also titered Ebony this year, so she did not receive an annual vaccination this year either.

You might want to PM Patti who is "guysndolls" here. She had a dog with yeast problems and used Nzymes a few years ago. I was impressed by the results she posted on the Newf List at that time.

Just looked up Nzymes....sounds like a great product and actually quite reasonably priced. I noticed that they contain Super Oxide Dismutase and that, my friends, was , I think, for my late Mollie a Godsend and gave us several extra months of loving each other.

I had used the Yeast Buster kit from N'zymes on Jordan about 2 years ago, didn't really have great results. The regiman I have had him on since the first of this year for his yeast issues I think did the job. I am unable to fee raw due to my working schedule, so the next best thing was to switch him to a grain free ocean fish kibble from Wellness. The protein is good, fat level is low. Prozyme digestive enzymes, geneflora probiotics and flax seed oil. Jordan has an underlying hypothyroid condition which I tend to believe is the primary cause of his yeasty and sensitive skin, and I do believe we have finally found the right dosage. When doing a yeast cleanse, the skin and ears will worsen for a period of time. The process of bringing balance to the GI tract as well as the nutritional boost derived from the enzymes and probiotics takes time. I use white vinegar on the yeast issues which by far has been the best. I'd take Jordan smelling like a salad anyday over the smell of yeast. Bacterial infections can also come into play, so I did have Jordan on an antibiotic regimen for his skin and ears, and he cleared up nicely. The last 2 months we have been issue free, which is the longest we have ever gone without chronic ears and skin. Jordan is so much happier and goofier these days.

Hi,

I don't have any experience with N'zymes but I might try them. Chance and Sydney get Prozyme twice daily. It really helped keep Chance's ears clear. If I run out and don't get more right away, his ears get gunky and stinky.

Good luck,

So now I am wondering if I should give him some Benedryl to reduce his scratching while I have him on the yeast kit.

I do believe he does have an environmental allergy. I just hate having him on meds, but now he is starting to scratch so much his paws are ooozing.

I know it gets worse before it gets better, but I also know I am supposed to keep him from scratching as much as possible.

So I think I might try it.

Any thoughts????
