non-newf Q: cocker's dry, peeling nose

Crystal, my 12-year-old cocker spaniel, has a dry, peeling nose. It looks really painful, but it doesn't seem particularly sensitive. Sometimes, chunks of it will fall off or dangle. The vet said to try vitamin A, which I've been giving her, but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Anyone have other suggestions or know what causes this?

Bag Balm!! You can get it at the drug store. It comes in a little green square tin. It is also available at animal care stores. Very good stuff

I think a trip to the vet is a good idea, to rule out particular diseases, i have seen a few cockers that had awful peeling cracked noses, and they ended up having underlying problems.
Oooops i see your vet recommended vit a, did the vet check her over good?
i would maybe get a second opinion to see what is causing that.

good luck.
