Non newf.- Anyone in KY? Louisville area?

Ok. I'm shamelessly trolling for KY contacts. As I mentioned in another post, I contacted a shelter in regards to what I would lay money was a 4 month old newf mix puppy. Unfortunately, it went down the day they posted the picture. Normally, that would be that. I'd shed a couple tears, adn try again. However, the outreach coordinator contacted me and begged me to help with all the puppies they had. Even just one. Stupid me looked at the site. Here I'm already feeeling guilty for not getting the newf X out, and now I'm looking at an incredibly gorgeous array of puppies. Dogs pet stores here in the east would kill to get in because they could charge $800 and get it. And as I look at them, I know they are all dead come next week because in KY, puppies ar disposable.

Yeah, I've been suckered in. I can take six, which means I'm making life and death selections between littermates. The shelter is willing to get them to the vet to be spayed and neutered before transport for $60 (I will get fisrt shots and worming done at the same time) and can get them to to Louisville. I have a foster home in Loiusville, but I knwo from past experience, that I will be facing a black hole just trying to get them out of KY. Historically, it takes begging and pleading on transport lists for 2-3 weeks to get that northern Kentucky route filled. <wry grin> Its why many NE shelters dont' pull from KY. Just cant' get the animals out of the state. Does anyone here live in KY or have conacts in Ky that might be willing to take part in a trasnport. I don't have a date set but probably looking at next Saturday or the following Saturday. I'll take any suggestion and run with it.

And yes, Go ahead and say it. I need my head examined.

Best,

Holly,

Good news. The shelter can get the pups out of Ky. Then it's just transport from there. I believe I mentioned the off the scale cutness factor of these pups. I cross posted them to a couple puppy rescues I know and everyone is very excited to see such adoptable dogs in such a cooperative shelter. Plans are underway to get as many as possibe out and maybe to establish a long term connection.

I'm up by Cincinnati.

Unfortunately my next couple of weeks are booked fairly solid. It would have to be a spur of the moment type of thing where I probably wouldn't know until a few hours before if I'm available or not.

Let me know the details as you get them. I might be able to help out (however I might not also :( ).

I'm also thinking we may be able to get away without an overnight. The transport is starting at 7:30 am and leaving montgomery at 10:30 am. We're nto dealign with a time zone change this time. The problem is people don't like driving the Pa turnpike through the mountains after dark.

If anyone can think of a place to post the trasnport, please do so. Those Pa legs are hard to fill. We are going to do it without the overnight, so here's the adapted.

PERMISSION TO CROSS POST:

Seven precious little puppies (labs, goldens, bordercollies, beagles) that narrowly missed being put down have been
rescued from a shelter in Danville, KY and will be going into foster care in
New Jersey until they are adopted. See their pictures at:

General temperament and how animal rides: Puppies' first trip.

Special needs: Plenty of trash bags, newspapers, rags and/or towels should be brought along by each driver since the puppies will not be allowed to relieve themselves outdoors during the trip. When these things are soiled, they should be put into trash bags for disposal.

Water dish: Each driver should bring disposable plastic water dishes and bottled water along.

Crate: Crates are required and will not be provided. The puppies are small, so three medium crates or two large crates should be more than sufficient. The main thing is to be sure the puppies have room to move in the crates. The three littermates should be kept together. Leash and collar or how to transfer to vehicle, breaks: Puppies will be carried to next vehicle and transferred to those crates without being allowed on the ground.

Thanks for cross posting.

A bit of good news. Little Sparkle, (blue heeler border collie mix) got adopted in KY so we're subbing another of the 11 black labs.
