Ok. I'm shamelessly trolling for KY contacts. As I mentioned in another post, I contacted a shelter in regards to what I would lay money was a 4 month old newf mix puppy. Unfortunately, it went down the day they posted the picture. Normally, that would be that. I'd shed a couple tears, adn try again. However, the outreach coordinator contacted me and begged me to help with all the puppies they had. Even just one. Stupid me looked at the site. Here I'm already feeeling guilty for not getting the newf X out, and now I'm looking at an incredibly gorgeous array of puppies. Dogs pet stores here in the east would kill to get in because they could charge $800 and get it. And as I look at them, I know they are all dead come next week because in KY, puppies ar disposable.
Yeah, I've been suckered in. I can take six, which means I'm making life and death selections between littermates. The shelter is willing to get them to the vet to be spayed and neutered before transport for $60 (I will get fisrt shots and worming done at the same time) and can get them to to Louisville. I have a foster home in Loiusville, but I knwo from past experience, that I will be facing a black hole just trying to get them out of KY. Historically, it takes begging and pleading on transport lists for 2-3 weeks to get that northern Kentucky route filled. <wry grin> Its why many NE shelters dont' pull from KY. Just cant' get the animals out of the state. Does anyone here live in KY or have conacts in Ky that might be willing to take part in a trasnport. I don't have a date set but probably looking at next Saturday or the following Saturday. I'll take any suggestion and run with it.
And yes, Go ahead and say it. I need my head examined.
Best,
