Author is Joanna Kosloff

I certainly hope I don't offend anyone with this post

On Pages 12, 85 and 93 there are pictures of a brown newf that has horrible conformation.
This dogs head looks like it was crossed with some kind of hound! I personally feel when writing a book about Newfs, one should not have photos of such a poorly bred dog. On the back cover of the book there is a photo of 2 browns laying down, and they DO have the correct head type.
There are many other photos that have beautiful newfs, but this brown one just really sticks out. Even when just researching the breed and getting this book (one of my first books) I could immediatly see that this Newf was definetely not up to the standard.
Does anyone else feel the same?

I just looked at my copy and would have to agree. These dogs look more like doark brown goldens than Newfies.

I bought this book years ago in my never ending goal of having all bookes about Newfs.

This is a much better book than your standard dog book - you know the type - three pages of breed-specific pics and info, the rest boilerplate dog stuff.

This book seems much more focused on Newfs. It's been a long time since I read it, so I can't comment on specific info though.

Ohhh...you mean "funny nose guy." Maybe he was the author's pet. Otherwise, I love the photos in this book. My favorite is the Salty Sea Dog (c'mon, you know the one. Page 29).
I agree with GAD that the book is better than the standard breed book, but I don't think it's anything anyone needs to rush out and get, except some of the pictures are fun.

Ehhh, I'm amending my post. As I look through the book again, it's a little better than I remembered.
