Hi, I'm located in the Los Angeles area and spotted this Newf mix puppy at the pound.

I contacted the local branch of Newf Rescue but since he is a mix, I thought I would post here and if you all could forward it to anyone who could help I would appreciate it! I do not know if they will take a Newf mix.

I would be happy to help in any way, including possible fostering. I own myself a beautiful Newf / Lab mix and love to help the breed.

Today I went and visited the puppy to see if he was Newf or not. I believe he most likely is a Newf mix. Although the shelter lists him as 6 months, I think he is probably only around 4 months as he still has all his puppy teeth. I would guess he is about 20 pounds or so. This puppy is very friendly, has the classic easygoing Newf temperament, and was very calm and quiet. He is all black except for the white blaze on the chest.

Please pass this information on to anyone or any rescue who may be able to take this puppy in, as he is available NOW for adoption.

Also, in evaluating the dog, I noticed that he seemed to have a little difficulty getting up and when he ran, he sort of "hopped" or took the weight off his right rear leg. I am not very familiar with hip dysplasia, so do not feel confident in being able to truly spot it. I do not know if it can onset as early as 4 months. The dog did not seem to have any injuries which would cause the hop. I am hoping that he only did it because of poor nutrition or possible not enough exercise and am anxious to see him out of the shelter so that he may receive the proper care that a large breed puppy needs.

Besides that, he is in very good health and I am sure would be easily adoptable since he is such a young puppy.

He is located at the NORTH CENTRAL LOS ANGELES ANIMAL SHELTER and is ID# A717331. The website is www.laanimalservices.com.

Thanks!
