OMG that poor baby boy! I hope they get him out very soon. He needs serious medical intervention. I hope he is not so starved that it is too late for him...

OMG...that poor baby!!!! How in the blank can people be so cruel??????? Please dear God, let this poor newf be rescued and be able to have a happy life with someone who will love him...I can't begin to say how ANGRY I am....

Rescue is aware of this boy. He was picked up as a stray so it is not necessarily a cruelty case. He may have just been lost and on his own for a long time and hiding...

Thank God they are getting to him in time...I can't imagine him being "lost" in Brooklyn without someone helping him or him finding food...you would think he would have been picked up much sooner...hopefully he wasn't abused but the poor guy I pray has a chance at life...this is just too sad for me to see...after loosing my boy this past month. I wish I could take them all!!

According to FB Rescue is dealing with this Newf and the shelter and requests that people do not continue to call the shelter.

Angela, I'd heard that as well. I'd been emailing with the shelter and told them if Rescue couldn't get to him (i.e. if for some reason they were the kind of shelter that doesn't deal with Rescues for some reason) I'd get him. They said he was on hold until the 11th and I was poised to hit the road tomorrow morning if need be. In reality he's likely better off with Rescue as they know how to rehab, but we were totally ready for him to be ours.

Bear Mountain and Chris Pulver are working at getting this poor boy. He will most likely go to Chris to recover from a life of hell. They know everyone cares, but asked that his picture stop being shared, and no one call the shelter. If you have posted his picture on FB please, like I did, delete it.

He look's brown in the picture due to the lighting I think. The shelter had him listed as black.

I'm working with Chris. Apparently I'm the only one the shelter will email. We're trying to figure out a way to get him since they will not hold him. If anyone knows anyone in Brooklyn ( I'm working that angle too) please have them email ne at michelle.skoorka@gmail.com

Chris DOES have him. It was an INSANE day for her, but thanks to a couple of amazing people who got to the shelter one minute before it closed, he is SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update from FB on this boy (Shaggy) from Sat
Shaggy did wonderful!!! We just got back from the Vet. He has sores on his mouth and chin, we shaved some of his mats but his blood didn't look so good. It clotted right away in the needle so we are running extensive blood work. I will find out Monday. He is just the sweetest little thing!!! I do not at all think he is 4 years old. I think MUCH younger, maybe even a year old. He is eating well, tiny little bits at each sitting. He is a happy little man!!!! I told him how many people are pulling for him and he smiled! I am just hoping that his blood comes out ok, I am a little worried about that! His paperwork stated that he was picked up at an address, behind a gate with a note. They give no further info on that note, I would love to see it! So, I will keep the updates coming and I can not thank you enough for all your kind words and wishes for this sweet boy! God bless him, after all he has been through, he is still happy and trusting to people. I sure wouldn't be!
Update from SunAM
Shaggy is doing GREAT!!! He is such a happy boy! He looks in his bowl and since I can only feed him little bits at a time, he give me a look like " what? Are you kidding me?? You said FOOD!!" He gets cookies in-between his little meals, many of them, but it is a very slow process. Too much food, too soon is the worse thing for him. The sores on his chin and mouth are already clearing up. His tail wags all the time! I went to the pet store and got him a really good food and he seems to do ok with it. I am waiting for the results of his stool sample, he could have hook or whip worms. Hopefully not! I am worming him anyway either way because the last thing he needs are ANY type of worm. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I will flood your computers with them! I am so proud of him for his attitude! He is just always happy. It amazes me how they forgive humans and love us anyway. I guess that's where the expression Dumb Animal comes from! He should HATE us all but he doesn't! So forgiving these beautiful creatures!!! Well, I am taking him out again and giving him another little meal but will keep you all updated. I can not thank you all enough for your compassion for this sweet little man! Oh by the way, there is NO WAY this boy is 4 years old!!!! He is a baby! I am almost leaning to think he may be under a year old. MAYBE!! Shari and Skip, I can never thank you enough for running at the drop of a hat to go in to get him even when you thought he may not even be there. Friday night traffic, into Brooklyn, from the eastern end of Long Island and you made it with minutes to spare before they closed!!! God bless you both! It warms my heart to know what wonderful friends I have made through the dogs! They truly have brought me my best friends!!
If you are on FB, they are also asking for donations to help with his care if you are able.
