Thank you. That is exactly how I feel - a 20 year commitment should be my decision.
I might get a cat but right now I am happy with my 2 newfies. You have all made me feel better about my decision. So they are not talking to me now, it will pass.

gah! I missed the post where you said that you aren't keeping the kitten.. my bad!
I just had to put my 17 yr old cat to sleep... you are right, having a cat is long term committment; and one that you shouldn't be pressured into. I am sure that once things cool down, all will be well again...

Update - my son and DIL are leaving. Originally they were suppose to stay till this evening but are packing up and taking the kitten with them and are really mad at me. I know I made the right decision and I wish they would respect it. What a mess!!!

I am going to have a good time with my son who is home on leave and put this behind me. thanks for the support and advice.
