We lost our baby girl last month and I completely understand what you went through and are continuing to go through. The house is so quiet. The yard is so empty. I too miss talking to my girl . For what it is worth, please know that there is someone out there who understands your loss and pain. My thoughts are with you and your husband.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Godspeed sweet Graham. (((HUGGS))) It seems he had a wonderful life. Nice tribute.

As a follow up, we could not stand the silence. We held out a month, but we had never been without at least one dog, so one day we went a local pet store that sells only rescued pets in conjunction with the local Humane Society. Last in line was something that nearly gave my husband a heart attack. Laying on the floor - not a Newf - but a small Lab looking girl who raised her head and smiled at him. Literally. That was it. She was ours. Her name is Daisy. She will keep us going until we can get to the point of getting another Newf. Sooner hopefully than later. I'll try to post a picture.

Nina, I feel your pain! Moonlight was indeed an amazing dog. I do believe you when you say she talked to you. My Lucy was like that. We were so connected that when one of us felt "off", we both felt off. She was my dog, and Maggie was my husband's dog. They were incredibly bonded to each other, and the four of us were inseparable. Now they're both gone, and Brenna (our rescue) passed in August.

We were without a single dog in our lives, for the first time in 30-something years. We waited, and started to wonder if we wanted another dog, then what type of dog we wanted. I contacted breeders of several different breeds (Goldens, Berners, Shepherds), but it came down to our longing for that connectivity that we've only ever had with a Newfoundland.

I searched for a breeder of Landseers, and kept hearing that either all Landseer pups in the next several litters were already promised, or they were only having blacks/browns/etc. I literally tripped over a breeder who had a male available, and couldn't get to him fast enough. Enter our new baby, Cowboy.

That Newf sized hole in our lives is starting to fill in.

Congratulations on YOUR new baby, Daisy. She's lovely. Can't wait to see more pics and hear all about her.

Nina, I have read your news or at least tried to read your news about Moonlight a few times and my eyes well up. I don't know if it is because we know Rocky won't be with us for too much longer, although he has responded well to treatment so far. I am sorry for your loss of course. I know how special she was to you guys. Happy you have another dog around to spoil and love.
