My Brown Pup Has White Undercoat

This is our first brown..we have a Landseer and a Black. Our new boy, Cash, is 12 weeks old. He is brown but his roots are grey/white. Is this common...will his adult coat be like that too?

I've not studied the undercoats of lots of newfs, but at least with Maggie, who was black, her undercoat often looked grayish. Some of it is probably dead skin/dust though. I was always shocked at the amount of dust that would fly off when we used the blower. It always looked darker after that. But still, it wasn't shiny black like the guard hairs. I vote normal.

Did you ask your breeder about it? At 12 weeks he just has puppy coat. I have seen grey on black puppies, which grows out and I was told could be caused by stress.
But, ask the breeder if this is normal as my experience with Browns is nil!
