Mushy Poop ?

We've had our pup on taste of the wild salmon, and orejin six fish, both have resulted in very mushy poop. We had our vet test a stool sample, there is no medical reason for the mushy poops, so I figure it must be the food. We have been adding a tablespoon of yogurt to each feeding, but that doesn't seem to be doing much of anything. Any food advice would be welcome. Thanks!

We had the same problem with Cosmo on Blue Buffalo. Put him on Nutro and things firmed up. Think that you have to watch that until their digestive system gets a little more mature. :bear:

try a food with a different protein source....something other than fish. try beef, lamb, chicken, bison, duck, etc.

We've been having the same issue with Bo (see our post just below yours). He's touch and go on Natural Balance chicken and sweet potato. He really firmed up on chicken and rice for a couple days, then we added in new kibble food gradually. Other folks also recommended ProPlan. Good luck!

How much are you feeding your pup? Also, be careful with the yogurt as it can attribute to soft poops for some dogs.

We were feeding ours California Natural Herring and sweet potato. We had poos that started soft and turned to mush. The vet said the change is because the poo at the end wasn't in the colon long enough. We switch toe CN's Chicken blend (not because of the poo, but to expose her to different foods). Our poos have solidified a lot with the switch. It made me wonder if the fish caused the soft poos.

We've transitioned ours to Nature's Domain - Salmon and Sweet Potato - over the last six weeks. No soft poo issues, but one of our older newfs has begun biting herself all over:( We took her to vet for treatment, but she continues with the biting. Wondering if it could be the food? Kim
