had to take her in this afternoon, thursday is busy for me, so.....
Xray showed a huge mass of poop but also showed at least 6 pups, she saw signs that there may be 3 or 4 more.
she maxed out the xray settings she is huge, her normal weight is 107 she is now 129 pounds!
we will let you know when the pups are born, she is due the 4th, and vet said she is really dropped so she may have them sooner, than we can see who guessed right!

See, we could get to ten, and then I will win! :D

I guessed ten because Rory was one of ten. Out of a small mother!

Go Morgan! :D

This is an interesting topic, not so much as how many are in this litter, but more, what do you breeders think is a good size litter?

Obviously, 1 is bad. WHat do you consider the optimum number? 6? 10? 12? A leo breeder just had 2 litters of 14 about a week apart. She said she was never having puppies again...

I like litters of 6. Yes, we've had the 9 and 10 and 11 pups and I went crazy- trying to make sure each was getting fed enough- but not too much. 6 is very manageable.
If I was the Leo person I'd be saying the same thing. We've had 2 litters at the same time (2-3 days apart)- not once but twice (ok, we were crazy). Fortunately, one had 2 pups and the other had 4. The second time they both had 3.
Looks like we may be doing the same thing with Cassie and Amy as they both tend to come in season the same time. I passed both by earlier this month- couldn't take the time off from work for whelping/raising pups. Summers are better for me to be whelping and caring for puppies.
