I just found out today that there's a Newf specialty in St. Cloud in early December (trying to find exact details). Was wondering if anyone would be interested in carpooling. We can't bring the dogs, but I think it would be lots of fun to go anyway!
Let me know...

The Northstar Newfoundland Club is hosting a NCA Regional Specialty on Friday, December 5th in St. Cloud, MN at the St. Cloud Civic Center. The day usually starts with obedience judging in the morning (8 or 9 depending on the entry) followed by conformation judging.

The club is holding a buffet dinner Friday night at the hotel attached to the show site. An auction will follow dinner. Cost of the dinner is $20. Box lunches are avialable for $6. Reservations for both are due by Monday, Novemeber 24th.

I dragged a friend of mine to this show a couple years ago. I really enjoyed it. I would have gone last year, but it was in the middle of finals. :( I haven't decided yet if I'll be going this year - finals again. But if I do, I would love to carpool. I probably won't know until about a week before the show whether I'll be able to take the time away from studying.

Is it only on that Friday? If it is, bummer. I have two kids to get off to school. If I did go, I probably wouldn't carpool, though. I would have two kids with me and I would stay to visit with my mom. She lives up there.

I'm running this by Chris right now, but I am very interested in going.
We'd have to take vacation that day, but if we decide to go (we should have an answer today or tomorrow) then we'd be interested in carpooling!

is this in the same place it normally has been? i remember years ago i went with friends, and i just hated the location, no offense intended.
it was all cement, parking was horrible, and there was no where to walk your dogs to go potty except those penned in areas, wich i avoid like the plague, to many germs spread and i dont want my guys catching anything.
the location of a show means a lot to me.
i dont recall it being at the arena but it very well may have been.
cant make it this year anyway, sydney needs his chest yet.

Mary,

Yes, the Newf Specialty is on Friday only. However, Saturday and Sunday are All Breed shows, at the same location. I would assume that many of the Newfs entered in the specialty may also be entered in the all breed shows on Sat. and Sun. It will be much less crowded on Fri., as I believe there are only a couple of breed specialties that day. If you can't make it on Friday, then you could still try to make it to one of the shows on the weekend.

I have Emmy entered for the Specialty, only, but will be there briefly on Sat. at the Cardiology Clinic. This is the first year for me, so I'm not sure if it is the same site that Christine went to years ago....Susan might know. If you want more info on the Newf Specialty, the premium and forms for the banquet can be found at www.parrishdogshows.com For the weekend all breed shows go to www.onofrio.com Hope we see some of you there!

So are any newf-netters planning to go? I'm hoping to go and would be happy to meet anyone else who will be there.

I will be there for both obedience (do you hear that Diva, it's odedience as in obediant not disobedience!)and conformation. Look for my red (imagine that!)crate covers and stop by to meet some (ok, quite a few) of my gang!

Susan,

So you're bringing the "hussies" with you? ;) ;) Are the little french fries coming too? Emmy needs some piggies to play with. We have an 8 1/2 hr. trip up on Thurs., so she'll be ready to rumble by the time we arrive. We'll be there bright and early Fri. morning, with Julie and her favorite male Newf in tow. :D

Newf Netters, once you find Susan's red section, and believe me, you can't miss it....red everywhere, Emmy and I should be around there somewhere.

Nancy,

Yep, me and my "hussies" (yes, EVERY girl, that can be, is in season at my house!) will be front and center!Only 1 li'l "piggy" in tow but he will be sporting a matching red crate cover, just Frenchie sized! If anyone's veteran male needs a little "pick me up" all they will need to do is walk past my set up!

Looking forward to seeing you all in St. Cloud. Dress warm! It was 12 degrees this morning!!!

Oh, man! I realllllly, really want to go on Friday. I've been to several regular conformation shows, but never a newf specialty. But I have finals all next week. But I really want to go...
What time does it start?

Kelli,
If you go, I'll go...
I'm supposed to work, but I'm contemplating taking vacation on Friday.
I think it's supposed to start around 8 or 9 am. If you're interested, we could carpool. (bring your books to study in the car - I'll drive.) We could leave really early, catch obedience and conformation in the morning and head home after lunch (or later, depending on your schedule.)
Let me know.

The judging program with counts and ring times can be found at www.parrishdogshows.com

Obedience starts at 9:15 and regular conformation doesn't start until 2:00. Sweeps will be in between around 1:00 if I remember right.
