Megaesophagus

Yes, once again, Khiori has something new. She's got megaesophagus now
Anyway, does anyone know of this condition? Know of anyone else? I need a bit of help. Khiori's not able to keep much down (although for the first time in a week, she held her food down from dinner last night) Does anyone know what her chances of survival are? How about the effect on her life span?

At this point, I'm seeing her with a few months left, due to her seizure pattern and now with not being able to keep food in herself (at most maybe a year). If there's anything I can do to keep her quality of life up, I'd like to find out now - in the early stages.

And I know most all of us have been there... but at what point do we let our babies go? I almost equate this to cancer. She can go on for quite sometime - but if the outcome is not good... I don't want her to suffer needlessly and endlessly.
Thankfully, I believe that point is somewhere off in the future. I just need to settle in my own mind what's the most appropriate thing to do... so I don't panic later on.

Sorry for the bummer announcement.

Rachel, I'm so very sorry! Poor Khiori is going through so much! Some dogs do well with megaesophagus if they're fed in a raised bowl, but for some it's major.
Been there, done that, too many times. Trust me. You'll know when it's time. She'll look at you in a certain way and tell you. But let's hope your Khiori keeps smiling for a long time yet. We're all here for you, keeping you and yours in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Lynne for the encouragement. Believe it or not, I found a K9-Megaesophagus list today. So hopefully we can get some good tips from that. As far as the other topic, I'm sure she will tell me. I'll probably have to rely on my husband and Solo to tell me again though.

Btw, I got Diane's email
So sorry about Nana.
I emailed her back just now.

Rachel, you WILL know. Trust me. Been there, done that, too many times. But I hope the list can give you good tips. Are you feeding her raised?
Thanks! I KNOW I can count on you to help anyone whose dog is having seizures.

Yes, we started feeding Khiori raised since Friday night. It helps A LOT to keep her food down. But we have to keep her in the same position for 10 mins, then she can't play for an hour afterwards. Otherwise she'll throw up again. Basically her forelegs have to be higher than her rear. Same thing for water drinking, but not as long.

It's very frustrating for all of us. Khiori's not happy having to be so still all the time. And we're not happy to see her this way - not to mention vomit cleanup. That why I asked about when is time. I notice she's starting to have a low grade depression.

Khiori's hungry, tired, can't play, and nauseated. Poor puppy.

I don't know what to say, Rachel, except that you and Khiori and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
