vet says overweight and to feed a high fibre food and not reduce the amount fed.
of course "her" diet food is best.

what do you do for diets? Molly gets only 3 cups a day (now 2) and I have added green beans to make up for it. and she was getting 1/8 can of wet with it which I have stopped.
should that be enough?
she has lots of energy on walks and playing with the pyrs outside.
anyone know a good diet food?

I really don't know of any good "diet" food for dogs.
What you could try is add up the calories she's getting, and reduce it some, and then wait. I think as long as you have reduced the calories, eventually she'll lose some weight. Unless there are specific health concerns that you have to get the weight off for right away, slow consistant weight loss would be better.
Can she do more excersize? Maybe some swimming time would help too.

I am not in favor of dieting for dogs or people. I think a good healthy food & plenty of exercise does the trick most times unless there is a health problem that prevents from loosing weight. Has Molly been checked for thyroid or other problems that might cause weight retention? Also you don't want them to loose the weight to fast, it is not healthy.
Is there a reason why she should loose weight, like joint problems?
If going for walks & playing with your other dogs is not enough maybe a treadmill will help.
We will be starting Bär on a treadmill shortly for his therapy because there is day's here the weather is to bad for him to get his therapy walks.

That food the vets recommend is complete crap. Full of filler...little if any nutritional value.

It boils down to simple arithmetic:

To lose weight you must burn more calories than you take in. Period.

I would cut back the kibble by a half cup and add some NO SALT green beans and increase exercise. It always works. Even for my chunky monkey Golden.

Annabelle has just lost ten lbs over three weeks with green beans and carrots mixed in with her food. I reduced her food by two cups and made it up with the veg. She was never hungry and loved it..............And we walk about 4miles a day. Do agility once a week and go to training twice or three times a week. She is one tired dog
Her thyroid was checked...........I think it was because she was very thin when we got her and we did not adjust her diet too well when she gained and was speyed, Ronnie
