THis is going to be a great way to introduce your pup or dog to obedience, water and draft -- also lots of info on how to care for your newf and a demo on how to do basic grooming.

Joan,
I'm so glad we went ! ! ! Fashionably late... well OK more than fashionably

We promise not to have too much fun driving that we miss the signs and wind up in another state LOL

Once we got there we all enjoyed your demonstrations. Great job you did Joan and a great day had by all ! Kudos to Cole for being a great demonstrator too ! ! !

It was nice to meet some people for the first time.

Maria, congrats on Brutus swimming for the first time. He did his mommy proud :D

I really enjoyed myself as well :D The weather was perfect and it was so nice to meet some new newfie people and their beautiful newfs. Hunter had such a good time and was thoroughly exhausted by the end of the day. He was stretched out in the back seat snoring away the entire ride home. Well...except for the few minutes where he decided he was thirsty and took the top off of a full gallon jug of water and spilled it in the back
Joan...I thought that your demonstrations with Cole were great. I love his laid back attitude

Glad everyone ahd such a great time. These events are always made better when every has a good time and gets something out them, It's also nice when the weather cooperates, which it doesn't always do. THese events are always rain or shine.

Thanks everybody for your compliments on Cole. He is a little trooper but then again I think enjoys showing off.

And Pam, if you think his laid back, you didn't meet my Jake. He is the most laid back newf I every have met. Cole has learned how to behave but can be quite the handful when he wants to. Cole is usually the 'worrier' & the 'protector'. And Savannah is my little
party girl.

I guess we are going to have to hand out maps to Patty & crew for the future. Not all our events are held at that site. THis was first time we usd that place but we will use it again.

And Linda, we were all that far from Conn although probably a good ways from where you are. They reached Darien when they realized they had one the wrong way and shoul dbe on rt 684 instead of the Merritt. ;)

Gee Joan, I hope BMNC does have more events at Sylvan Lake. It's a beautiful area and a great place for our newfs. The next time we won't get lost :D The scenic tour through CT I must say, was very pretty!
Thanks again for such a "fun newf day"

Too funny- but yet not funny when it's happening to you and you want to get there on time. Yes, could have been worse- they could have gotten to Bridgeport or New Haven before realizing the mistake. Should have gone south on Hutchinson/Merritt Parkway to 684 instead of north?

THey did arrive still laughing so there must have been some real ;) funny stuff going on in that car. They arrived almost 2 hours late

They should have been coming North on the Hutch and when it splits, taken the left fork to 684 instead the right to the Hutch/Merritt North.

Joan,

Vinny, Brutus, LAdy Bear and I had a lot of fun. Both dogs were exhausted and slept the ride home.

Next time we promise not to follow Patty on her scenic routes through CT. LOL

Patty was right Brutus did his momma proud but my Lady Bear (who had to be dragged beyond the point where her feet could reach) just cried and cried even though she swam fine.

I was completely impressed with Pams Hunter who is a little older than Brutus and has never gone in water either. He went right in, swam out to Joan, came back to Pam. He did it again and that time Joan was able to hold onto him and he carried her back to shore. Then he went to go out again when Joan called...unfortunately it wasnt Hunter she was calling for so Pam had to call him back but I thought he did totally awesome!!!

What a great time we had...Joan, you did a wonderful job both in the water and out! It was great to watch Cole work in the water demo. Pam and Maria all of your dogs did so well for the 1st time in the water. I took plenty of pics so when I get them back I will post them. I should say Patty will post them because I still cant figure it out!
Ok now about the car ride! Yes it was my fault for talking through the exit....but I did redeem myself by asking Brenda for the road atlas that her husband insisted she take with her..thank goodness he did....When I realized we were still in Ct.... yes Linda we would have ended up going to visit...ask the girls we joked about it in the car once we were headed in the right direction. No one would believe we farmingdale at 8:15 in the morning....but we made it! I am glad we did too. Our next trip will be to Ct...Yes I do remember how to get there still! I will not be giving interstate lessons on that trip..promise Patty.!

THanks again everyone

And Gloria - I don't remember any blaming you for getting lost. Most of us thought it was a group effort :D

Maria - Lady Bear will get past that. IT just takes patience and persistance. My Jake did the same thing when we first introduced him to the water. Now I can't get him out when we take him swimming.

Hi Joan:
Thank you for including us in this wonderful workshop. Our ever energetic Jesse had an exhaustingly happy day, and thoroughly enjoyed her first swim.
