Max the Bernie

I have a really, really, really good customer who fell and broke his shoulder. He ended up having surgery. About a week after he fell his dog, Max, tore his ACL. The trouble is Max cannot have his surgery until the owner can use his shoulder, which will be awhile. He will also need physical therapy. SO......

Max is having surgery Wednesday and coming here to recoup. When he is released from Dr Harrison in Columbus he will come straight here. I imagine he will be here at least 2 months. :crazy:

Max is a great dog and really needs this surgery since he completely tore his ACL. I'm glad we are able to help. :new_smilie_colors1:

Max is here so much he is like a member of our crew. The only thing is when we let him in the house he won't let Adam or Chase near Gary or me. He will actually go after them if they come too close. We decided he cannot come in the house since this is Adam and Chase's home. They need to be able to do what they want in their own home. It is strange since he is fine with Adam and Chase in the kennel/shop area.

I wonder why Max won't let Adam and Chase near you. I find dog psychology so interesting!

Ya, Jeannie, it's understandable. The berners are more of a guard dog, similar to the Pyrs. Guarded the flocks at night.

Boy, I sure do wish I lived closer to you. There are no kennels around here that treat the dogs the way you do. You are a blessing.

Looks like Max won't be coming here. The surgeon does not want him in a kennel situation until the staples are out. I don't think the owner explained to him that Max was not going to be in the kennel but....

Anyway he will be staying at the owner's sister's house and will be here in 2 weeks.

Max had his stitches removed and arrived here today for at least 1 month. He has lost 20 lbs. We plan to get him back to his old self.

Max has been here 20 days and has gained 10 lbs. He is putting weight on his leg and if full of energy. The owner was to pick him up on Wednesday but today booked him to stay until 12/27/13. One good thing is he has been picking Max up on Saturday morning and bringing him back on Monday morning. He said that timing is good because Max wants to sleep Saturday and most of Sunday. By the time he is not tired anymore he brings him back.


He made the comment last Saturday that he feels like a dad that has custody on weekends. As I waved his check to pay for the boarding for the week I said "Yes and you even pay child support!"

Max got a bath today and tomorrow I'll trim him up a bit. He is a good boy!
