Masticatory Muscle Myostis

Wow. It has been a very long time since I have visited the Newfnet. My boy Jack is having issues. The Vet has him scheduled tomorrow for a muscle biopsy to diagnose Masticatory muscle myositis. What we thought was the result of a bee sting. He has been letting out a yelp if he opens his mouth as to yawn. He is eating and drinking. This has been going on for just over two weeks that we know of. Do you know of this disease? My searches of it sound like it moves fast. I worry about the large dose of prednisone and possibly causing aggresion. Any thoughts on that?

I don't know anything about that disease but am praying that he can get some relief. Keep us updated, and nice to see you back even under these sad circumstances.

I had a Newf that had to take prednisone for an autoimmune disease. It didn't make him aggressive, just made him pee a lot.

I'm pretty sure someone here had some experience with this if I'm remembering correctly, possibly Joan Fisher? You might want to search the forum to see if you can find any info or if you're on Facebook there's a very large newf group there.
