OK... my sons computor is damaged from him not putting virus protection on. It also doesnèt have a driver that I could get my pics off of it with.
I went out and bought a multi purpose port to transfer to my CF card and back on to my computor. In the mean time he tried to restore his computor to BEFORE the viruses were on it. The system restored to before my PICS were on it.


Question: If I send it to a pro, can my pictures be recovered.

Possible, but it depends on a lot of things.

When you say he restored his computer, do you mean microsoft system restore, or did he have a backup and restored the backup?

I'm guessing the second. If the system was formatted, or the existing OS was over-written, the files may still be present on the disk, but you will be hard pressed to find them with "normal" software. A professional data restoration company could get them, but it can cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

If the files were just "deleted", then yes, they can be retrieved by someone with the right software and determination.

You need to find out exactly what he did to the system though.

Thanks for the advice.

Its nearly all disposable, as, its my first attempts with my SLR mostly.... but there are pics of my Inlaws 50th anniversary there also....
AT the time I lent my computor to my other son in colledge... sigh.
