limping

We have just become new owners of a female Newfy. She is 19 months old. She has very long legs and is very slim. She weighs about 80 pounds and is about 27 inches at the shoulder.

When she has been laying down and then gets up, she limps a little with her front legs. Once she has been up a bit, it goes away. I have taken her for walks and she trots on her own at a farely quick pace with no problems.

Is this limping something I should be concerned about?

David,
As with anything it can be a concern. To be on the safe side I would make an appt with your vet.

My Samantha did that for awhile. I found out she had an infection in her foot. Best to be safe and see a vet.

Thanks for your replies. I took her to the vet and the vet said she would need to do x-rays to be sure of what is going on. She said it could be a flap of cartilidge causing pain in her shoulder or knee. She could not find a specific place where Joy was hurting though. She said since it has been happening for quite some time, that it is probably more than an injury.
