Lester and Annie

Last spring we lost Ruby just after her fourteen birthday. We never realized how much control she had over our other two. We have had Newfoundlands since 2001 and these two refuse to sleep in our bed and never have. Lester is a nine year old Landseer and Annie is a six year old black Newfoundland. Without exception all the dogs and grand dogs both pedigree and pound puppy we have had or kept want to sleep in bed with the people. They both seem normal in every other way and after all these months without the enforcer they are taking on more of her roles but I doubt either one will ever choose to lay on our bed.

I have a rescue boy that won't sleep with me. It's a first for me, but he is old and was never allowed in his former owner's bedroom at night, so probably doesn't even know it's OK to do here. I miss having dogs in my bed, but whatever he wants is fine with me.
