I just got back from my trip to Philadelphia to see Landseer's painting "A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society". It is a wonderful painting and so worth the trip; if you like Landseer Newfs & can at all manage to go - do so. I looked at the expression on the dog's face & thought "isn't that how we all want our dogs to look!" The picture is there until the end of the year - room 293. And the guards are now used to a group standing in front of that picture for a whole afternoon!
Don't think they ever have people come & look at just one painting... The NCA is also selling reproductions to raise money as the picture has been restored. Maybe someone else would post that website.
