Karen and Sar about Devil

Well, Devil is coming home tomorrow. She was bred naturally with the same male yesterday and today he and she were brought to the vet for A-I. He has no sperm :( at the moment. So, she is being bred to one of my breeder's males that I LOVE and wanted for her in the first place, but I don't have any say in that
. The vet surgically checked her uterus and says it's beautiful, healthy. So, the A-I was done. She's recovering at the hospital tonite and I pick her up in the afternoon. So, now we wait and see.... How's things going with your girls?

And Sar, just where do I do the "waist" measuring? I'd really like to do this.

Hi there!
to bad about the first boy!
the second male, did you surgically implant the sperm besides natural breeding?
did they do a slide to see if she is cornified yet or past?
just curious!
as far as measure, go to the last rib, measure her at the last rib, i usually do that once a week, depending on the individual female, some may gain a half inch right away the first week some may not gain anything till the second or third.
make sure it is perfectly placed all the way around straight.
penny started at 28 inches and is now at 28 1/2
be careful they dont do what horses do when a saddle is put on them *grin*
good luck to your devil! :D

Well hi there! Devil is home. She's first in line (whereas she was previously a finicky eater) for breakfast and dinner
. She went on a hunger strike the last 2 days at the breeders (her first mom) and the vet got her to eat "a little". while there for 2 days.

Sar, she had bloodwork done for progesterone level and smear, cornified and absolutely the prime time. She was surgically implanted after they inspected her uterus. The uterus was perfect
. In fact according to the vet was surprisingly nice for a dog her age (5). There was no additional breeding done besides the first fellow. SO.... we shall see. DNA will be done just in case. I have had a little talk with her, told her it would be nice if she did it this time so that we could spay her when she delivers and be done with it forever ;) .

Karen, Devil has a slight ear infection, my vet doesn't want her on baytril drops, says to just wash the ear out frequently with ear solution, and keep in touch. Do you have any suggestions for her ear? It is warm, pink and a tiny bit slimy.

It sounds like Bria is doing all the right things....

I will start measuring tomorrow Thanks for the directions
.

I am trying to keep her calm, quiet for a week, she wants to run full-out, romp with the puppies, etc., so she's crated when not in my company.

Keep your fingers crossed......

Oh thank you, Karen, I am hoping she is pregs too. These babies belong to her first mom. I'm just the nanny.
Devil was a gift to myself and my husband from my breeder. I have thought Devil was the epitomy (sp) of what a newf should be in temperment, appearance and kindness from the day I first met her, long ago. She was always special to me and my breeder knew this. She asked me if I'd do her a favor and bring her down to my home for a while because she had a house full of nursing and soon to be mom's and Devil was going to the kennel, which she hated. When I brought her home, hubby fell in love with her and my breeder said "good, she is yours. I know she's in the right home, I don't want her in the kennel." Wow!! She is the most "newfy" newf I have ever met. Loving and kind, but protective and serious when called for. I'm very lucky

Thanks too, for the aloe and the Calendula recipes. I will try the aloe first, as you suggest. I do think my co-op is open tomorrow. I'll call and find out. Both of these treatments sound wonderful and healthy
. I just want to be sure that a low grade fever doesn't take any pups she might be carrying. I thank you for your help!!!! as usual
.
