Hi, Ozzy is a jumper and we just correct him everytime. You can sort of tell when he is gearing up for a jump, he backs up and his butt starts to wriggle, so I head him off with a stern "no jump!" and he usually gets it. His urge to jump seems to be getting less, except when he is really excited (even with recent knee surgery he tried to jump up on me when I came home yesterday after being away for two days, and my husband said he was trying to break down the door when he saw my car pull up to the house.)
Just keep correcting him, and don't giggle or laugh like I want to when Ozzy jumps, be stern and consistant.
Good luck!

James managed to knock me down a few times. But I learned to put up my knee to block him in the chest. and told him to "get Off".Seemed he didn't try to do it as often once he got older.Don't know if it was something he learned after awhile or he just got lazy. :D Karen

I like to teach the dog to Sit for petting. That fixes jumping up!
No need to hurt the dog to train it, ever. Those days are long gone, thank goodness!
