Jealousy

Rory has no other dogs living with her but does have the cat, Barney, they get along really well. Rory does get a bit jealous at times though, and will sometimes push the cat out the way if he is getting a pat or something, it's funny. :D

Yesterday we were cooking the Easter dinner, and both Rory and Barney were in the kitchen. We gave Rory a raw green bean and she didn't want it, picked it up and dropped it a few times and stuff, and then ignored it. So I picked it up and said "oh well, Barney might want this!" and called Barney over. He'd only taken a few steps towards it when Rory snatched the bean back and made quite a show about eating it, tossing her head around and chomping loudly. I KNOW it was just so Barney didn't get to have it. She does this kind of thing quite a bit! We actually use the "oh, we'll give it Barney then" line quite often to get her to eat something she doesn't really want. Isn't it funny how their minds work?

That used to work on our kids, too! (Human ones) One didn't want their toast in the morning, and all I had to do was offer it to one of the other kids, and wah-lah...the first kid ate it. ;)

If Ozzy isn't too interested in dinner, all we have to do is say maybe Giles ( one of the cats) wants it or put Giles near his food dish and he races over and gobbles it down! It is too funny.

Emily is the same way with other animals about her food. It concerns me about wanting to get a second dog.

LOL...it must be a Newfie trait. Mira will just plain walk away and ignore her food until someone else meanders over to check it out. Then she's on that food in a shot, and she growls at them to let them know she's serious!

Fortunately, we don't have anybody here who's willing to argue over a bowl of food...they just look at her as if to say "what the heck's your problem?"...and walk away!

Melisa, Maggies only like that with the cat...she and leo actually trade off bowls while eating. I feed them 5 feet apart but they could care less. "Sometimes" a fresh meaty bone will bring out some competition between the two of them, mostly leo, he runs and hides his bone and then steals Maggies :D . maggie does't really mind sloppy seconds on a bone. I figure leo still has "pound memories" where maggie is much more secure.

That is so funny. I can just see Rory doing that. It must run in the family. Tayla is the jealous type also!
