It's not fair

I see all these wonderful pictures of children and their newfs and then there is Newman (again)

Jordan loves all of our boys, but this is what I hear all the time:

"Mom, Newman stole something and I don't know what it is...stop him before he swallows it!!"
"Mom, Newman is in the way of the TV and I can't see...make him MOVE!"
"Mom, Newman slobbered on my homework!!!!! AGAIN"
"MOM!!! Newman licked my candybar while I was putting it in my mouth....YUCK!!"

You get the picture. Newman thinks he is Jordan's brother and NOT Indy & Collins' brother. :D

Umm. while I can relate to all of what you said, it is important that the children realize that THEY must tell the dog all those things.

My 2 children love our dog, but they've been told that it is up to them to tell Ceilidh to move. Ceilidh has tried to "move up" in our pack by pushing my son Ian around. He asked me to tell her to stop, but I told him that HE had to tell her to stop. Once he did that, Ceilidh realized that her spot in our "pack" was at the end of the line and she stopped trying to push him.

JMHO.

Yep, if your dog runs the house it is your fault not his. When Bear arrived he tried to be in charge, I soon set him straight on the proper order of things :D . Now my 5 year old (45 lb or so) will grab him (130 lb) by his nose & move him out of the way (of course it is usually just to reposition him to make a better tv pillow
).

We hear "Mom, keep Maggie away from me...I just put on clean pants for school and don't want her to slime me!" or "Dad, call Maggie...(Maggie, where's your daddy??)" Daughter sometimes acts like Maggie's her sibling, too.

Our older son, who is a mechanic will come home after work and complain about the boys slobbering over his pants. As we all know that slobber is a whole lot cleaner than his pants.
