Hi. I’m here to get some advice. I’ve not had a Newfie before but I am experienced with large breeds. This week I am helping one that the police currently own following the death of his owner. He was stuck indoors for nearly 2 weeks with his dad before being rescued. He is significantly underweight , struggling in the kennels and is stressed. Have no history as yet, hopefully will get vet details released but he’s about 2. Any advice on this breed in particular? I know they slobber, love water and are walking dirt magnets. . I’m more concerned about helping him gain healthy weight and how best to welcome him into his new home where his family will much larger than he’s used to.
