I don't know if this is still in print - I've had mine for years.

This is a small book, and a quick read. The photos of Newfs on the cover and back are worth the price of the book IMO - they are both outstanding images of dogs who are hard to photograph well.

I'll probably get slammed for this, but to me this book was a little too "touchy feely" for my tastes. Now I'm quite sure it's because I'm a man or something
but I will say the book is a tear-jerker and if you've ever loved an animal, let alone a Newf, then you'll be bawling regardless of gender or your "touchy-feely" threshold.

The book is only 159 pages or so, and makes a wondeful collection to any Newf-lover's library.

couldnt have summed it up any better , but it is one of my favorites, i like mushey feely, i made my husband read it too. To me it is a book about bonding with animals ,and to such a animal lover as myself i was just simply so in touch with the book.

I got this book for Christmas last year.... and was so excited. My Mother got it on Ebay for me... and she paid a pretty penny for it too! She was really disappointed when she saw it, she was expecting so much more than a 159 page book when it arrived. But, when she saw my reaction to receiving it, her doubts went away.

I also agree that it's a little too touch-feely... however it conveyed one thing very clearly... I am not alone in the love and adoration I feel for this breed. I really knew that before, but to see it in print really clairified that for me!!! And it does make you shed lots of tears as well, so have a kleenex box handy.

I believe that it's been re-released, so it's easier to come by these days. And maybe, not as pricey, since it's no longer "out of print" and therefore hard to find!!!

It has been re-released. We picked up two copies recently, one for our bookshelves and another for the local library. I had borrowed a copy from the library about two months ago to read and apparently Matilda enjoyed the cover photo of Ben so much...she ate it.

I'll post the link when I get home if anyone is interested although I believe if you search some of the older threads in General it may still be there.

I personally loved the book. Maybe because it was my first newfy book , maybe because of the wonderful pictures but probably because I am a sentimental fool and love to have a good cry once in a while. I also love to hear people talk of there love for there pets. I give it a cheery thumbs up!!

It definately one of my favorite books! I don't make much time to read lately, but I did make time for this one when I recently got the second edition. I then got the first edition on e bay to add to my collection of newf books.
