Forgive my ignorance: is this a Newf dog show? And WHY is Gananoque 8 hours from my house?

Terri - yes it is. It's the Canadian Newf Nationals. And lots of people go and show their dogs and are very serious about it all and they high five each other when their show dogs go poop. (That's a true story).

Then, over by the parking lot, in camp chairs and on picnic tables, you will find everyone else: Jen, and Sandra, and Marlis, and Tina, and Patti, and all the rest. With beers or bottles of wine.

In between the show people and the Newf.net people are the folks who came to display in the obedience rings instead of conformation - Joan and Tikka, Luna and her mom, and Peter, who shows in the "aged to perfection" category every year.

We all wander over to the show ring for the obedience and draft stuff, and we'll often watch the conformation too, (except for Floyd who wasn't allowed because he wasn't a newf!!!), but for the most part, it's a weekend of hanging out, catching up, and having a marvelous time with one another.

Ness.. You have such a way of making things so clear. :)

I should add that the really serious show people look at us like we are the somewhat scruffy relatives that show up uninvited to a classy party.. :D

Jen is absolutely correct. We are the hayseeds with straw in our hair, and beers in our hands.

(but we have WAY more fun...)
