I may be crazy

I found this on the top of Koda's head today. A whole chunk of fur came off of this. Hopefully it's a scab and I'm just being crazy. It doesn't look pretty and it seems to be rather large. I also don't know how a scab would end up there... Any ideas as to what this might be?

Could be a hot spot, has Koda had those before? Or he could have been bitten by an insect and it formed a scab. Is it infected?

Our boy Odin Jara has one of those on his side as did Chyna (our girl) a few weeks ago. Hers cleared up after about a week of using plantain (compress) daily and some neo-sporin maybe twice. We think it was a reaction to an insect bite....

Looks like a hot spot that was still not healed under the scab...could have been from scratching.

Could have banged the top of her head on something, hard enough to break the skin, and that's just the result of it. Maggie did that once, while walking up the road. She was sniffing and walked under a mailbox, then raised her head suddenly, and "cronk!". She bled all the way home.
