Sar, did I miss something? Why is Penny on antibiotics?

Feeling puppies moving is ssosooooooo exciting ... I love that. I'm probably not even going to notice Devil's babies... she's a horse and we're only talking three......

Hi mollysmom
i posted under the general section, that we got kennel cough from the dog show. :(
she realy was coughing hard.
the cephelixin was for that, and after giving that she was loose, i just think antibiotics are very hard on her while preggy.
my sister is an M.D, and after talking to her, she said that dose she is on may be a bit high, that she would give three max a day instead of four, and not to worry it wont hurt the pups.
i believe your girl is huge, when only 3 or less puppies all the more room for them to grow!!!!!!
morgan got huge with her first litter of 3 and the pups were rather large to.

I'm glad you have an MD for advice
. I, too, have always worried about antibiotics during pregnancy. 4 a day is what my Gracie puppy is on, so is Cosmo, my golden for a hot spot. They both weight in at about 85 lbs.

I was told by my breeder to not give Devil her Sentinel (heartworm prev.) during the pregnancy. What's your take on this?

I agree with her on that, i dont do heartgaurd when they are preggy nor anything else, i do however do antibiotic during the first 2 to 4 weeks after breeding due to small litters and absorbtion, and have been succesful, exept now with penny she seems sensitive to antibiotics while preggy.
my sis is a wealth of knowlege. i appreciate her very much besides my vet! LOL
