Oh wow! I forgot that Piper is a senior, too! She'll be 9 in July. I always think of her as my puppy.

You know, when Yogi passed away at 12 years and 4 months, Little Miss Piper naturally assumed his role as timekeeper. Yogi always reminded me of those important events during the day like "time to eat", "time to go out" with a deep boof or two. He is undoubtedly smiling down on his protege'. Grinning from ear to ear, in fact, since Piper has taken his old job to a whole new, almost frightening level.

She reminds me of the normal stuff and lots of other things I never considered needed reminding. "Time to rub my tummy, "time to drag Mom to the cookie jar", "time to tell Mom it's raining, "time to think there's a ghost in the house", "time to notice every bird and squirrel in the yard", "time to bark because Mom is on the phone", "time to bark just for the sheer joy of it", etc, etc, etc. And she does it with an urgency and at a length and volume that demands my attention many, many times throughout the day.

Frankly, it's a bit wearing, but I love that she has kept Yogi's memory and his traditions alive. I never, ever feel like I'm alone with Piper around. I'm sure she keeps Hugo thoroughly entertained as well.

My two seniors are doing great! Charlie, at 8 years 5 months still thinks he's a puppy! He plays and runs like a pup with our Lab. He does take shorter walks now. If the walk is too long, he is stiff the next day. He tires a little sooner than he used to and still loves chasing the laser light:)
Max is showing his age a bit. He's 9 years 9 months and still a love:) He is a little weak in the rear and we have put down more runners and rugs to help him get up in the kitchen and bathroom. We had him in for shots and a checkup this last week and vet says he is doing great. He's back up to his normal weight of 155+ and he's alert and not about to give up yet. Vet also admitted that when Max was in for pneumonia, he didn't think he would be going home... Good vet, stong dog:)
