hip dysplasia

Hi we are new to the newfie chat. We have a newf named Fritz who just turned one year old today. A week ago we found out he has hip dysplasia. We have talked to ourfamily vet and an orthopedic surgeon. We are getting conflicting ideas about having Fritz undergoing Surgery. I think the procedure recommended by the surgeon was an FOA.We would like any feedback. We also have two Great Pyrenees, Sheba, a fiteen year old, and Zoe our baby who is 10 months. Thanks for any info on the Hip dysplasia.

Hi and welcome and sorry to hear about the CHD
a few questions, did you contact your breeder?
that is the first person you should talk and consult with, if in fact your breeder is a reputable one, they are available for their puppy people 24/7
next without us seeing the xrays we cannot rightly say that you should or shouldnt get surgery or treatment, but i know for myself, i would do the suppliment route, there are many dogs and animals outthere that have total function with chd.
i would give MSM Glucosamine, and Chondriton some also give shark cartilege.
regardless i would also add swimming the hades out of her when it warms up. swimming builds of muscles and support for that joint.
