Hi from Nha Trang, Vietnam

Hi guys,

thought I'd check in again as it's been a few days!

We are now in Nha Trang, a coastal, touristy area with a nice beach. We got here today after a couple of days in the mountains, where I was sick with a stomach thing. Unfortunately it meant I could not face the thought of eating ANY Vietnamese food so for the last couple of days have stuck to stuff like burgers and pizza, which are everywhere and surprisingly good! Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be able to stomach it again.

We've been on a Mekong Delta tour, which was good but whoa - the way the people live along the Delta is a real eye-opener - literal one-room shacks pieced together with bits of tin, hessian bags, old bits of wood - anything.

We didn't do much while we were in the mountains - I was a bit disappointed by it actually although it was probably just a change of pace after frantic, loud, crazy Ho Chi Minh.

Tomorrow we're checking into a new hotel and then spending the day at the beach so I'm looking forward to lying around and doing nothing.

We've seen a lot of funny things here and a few of them are:

- 'fried crap' (fried crab?) and chicken with cruel'' (checken with gruel?) on the menu

- when trucks and some cars reverse they play either 'happy birthday', 'lambada' or something esle weird like that! ( I thought it was a mobile phone tune for AGES!)

- kids shout 'hello!'at you all the time because it's the only english word they know (most of the kids are really cute).

Anyway, that's all from me for now, we've got a few days here before we go further up the country.

Hope all of you are well!

Amy

I almost spit coffee all over the screen when i read "fried crap" LOL... Sounds like you're having fun despite the tummy trouble!

Haha, I was wondering why the other thread was closed! So sorry you had some stomach trouble - hope it's all cleared up though. Can't wait til you're back and ready to tell us all about your trip and thoughts on the places you've been. Not to mention I have a selfish reason for wanting you home - I've got a ton of questions about cake decorating!!
