Hi guys,

just killing some time before the next plane so thought I'd check in!

Just spent about 8 hours in Bangkok, CRAZY place but ended up having fun although at first I thought I was going to hate it. (Once I started shopping it became ok!)

Stuff is really really cheap, traffic is crazy and really dangerous and there are lots of people out to rip you off! But it's all good. Now we're off to Vietnam so will check in again from there.

No Newfs sadly but quite a lot of small dogs around!

Amy

OK Amy,
Now I'm worried. I just read about people dying in Bangkok with that bird flu. Don't let anyone breath on you while you are there!

I can't have one of my most special friends catching something while she is on vacation!

Sounds very exotic and fun! What made your mind up on a destination for your trip? Lots of history over there for sure. I've also heard the people are gracious and the terrain is beautiful.
have a great adventure

Hi again guys!

Am now in Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh to be exact. It's been a fun day - it was a culture shock at first but now is great. The traffic has to be seen to be believed. Motorbikes everywhere, usually with about 3 people on them! I've seen families of 4 on one bike!

Crossing the road was terrifying at first as although it is technically right hand drive here, everyone (including cars) just drives on whatever side. It sounds bad but now we just step our\t and rely on all the bikes to go around you (which they do!).

Did some GREAT shopping - they love US dollars here - got good copies of Gucci watches for $10US and a (fake) Louis Vuitton bag and matching wallet for around $24US. Also a fake Burberry bag and wallet for a bit less. Sorry to go on about the shopping but it's great.

The food has been fantastic and including drinks ends up being around $4 - 5 US per person for a full meal. And it's YUM! But we ARE avoiding chicken on our doctor's reccommendation! Yes the bird flu is out here but in perspective out of many millions of people, not many have died (maybe 20?). It's all good!

We were really worried about the language barrier and bought little translation books in Thai and Vietnamese but nealt EVERYONE speaks some english. signs are in english, menus are in english - it's amazing. Lucky we speak english and not Russian or something because then we'd be in trouble!

We picked counties in Asia because it's a big aussie destination because it's quite close and it's CHEAP! Lots of Aussies are here and quite a few from the US and England.

Tomorrow we go to the War Museum and do more shopping and the next day the Cu Chi tunnels (although I'm scared I'm going to get stuck down one).

Hope all is well and I'll check in again soon! (Internet cafes are abundant here!)

How way cool!

Troy complains he has never been out of the US and hope I can get him out one day.

We saw alot of the countries on "Amazing Race" and Thailand was very nice from what we saw.

I envy you and hope you have a blast, but it sounds like you already are =)
