Heat and Humidity

I wanted to shoot some photos yesterday but when I took my camera outside my lens fogged up immediately, so I took my camera right back inside. Any suggestions?

Yes. I was afraid moisture would form inside the camera or lens. So I just put it away.

I'll defer to gad, but I believe most quality optic's are sealed with an enert gas fill so that moisture cannot accumulate inside. Am I right GAD?

Air can get in many lenses. Dust appears on the inside of many lenses like the 100-400. There are parts of the lenses that are sealed, but only the "L" lenses are advertised as "weather sealed".

Riflescopes are sealed as you describe because they're often in the rain or extreme environments.

Don't worry about condensation. It's only on the outside. Let the gear aclimate outside for 15 minutes before you shoot and you'll be fine. Never try to clean it or you'll get streaks.

BTW this happens to me all the time. I'll go somewhere and the temp/humidity in my bag still matches home. Open the bag and bam - everything gets foggy.
