Heart Worm Prevention

The link below is IMO a great article on heart worm prevention and meds.
I am all about not over medicating anyone or thing, so I love the happy med road... If you read you will see that the FDA has approved cite studies that some heart worm meds work beyond the 30 days (45 days)AND can be given a lower dose if your are not looking to prevent intestinal worms.

Needless to say most of our Newfs can be on a lower dose!

I have two friends with multiple dogs with different vets where the vet either mixed up a solution or they did it themselves. They used something, and it might be this chemical, and use it for the heart worm. I am thinking she could buy it OTC like for horses and cattle, and mix it in a solution and give the dogs like a eye dropper worth. But they too said, it did not protect for the other stuff.
