After a great week at the National and meeting new friends and old-we came home to a very ill kitty. I have 2 cats ages 14 and 15-we've had them both since they were baby kittens. Both have recently been diagnosed with kidney disease-which is treatable but not curable. When we got home last night-Kirby had clearly lost weight and was totally lethargic-she had not eaten since Weds (according to our friend who was minding them while we were away) and had not pooped either, we know this because she and MJ live on seperate floors. No poop upstairs. I barely slept last night thinking I'd be writing this post in the rainbow bridge section. Kirby even at age 14 is our baby-she's such a super sweet calico kitty. Well, we spent 4 hours at the ER vet today while they treated her for an abcessed anal gland. The vet says it was the biggest he'd ever seen-I'll spare you the details but Kirby is doing so much better today and I'm just so relieved and grateful.

Glad to hear everything, um, "ended" well!. It is scary when those old kids don't eat..they can get behind the 8 ball soo fast.
A gentle hug and smooch for your grand old lady, Kirby...

Glad all is on the mend. Sorry to have only had a chance to see you and your wife from afar in Frankenmuth.

Mark, I'm happy to hear that Kirby is doing so much better. Hopefully she'll pick up the weight loss in no time, and be around for many years to come.
