If I don't give him a chewy toy before we go out, yes, not exactly nervous, but he wants to come with. I try to make sure he has treats just before we leave, and he's usually fine.

Cora is food motivated, and will sell her soul for a treat. So, if we're leaving, all it takes is a biscuit, and she's happily occupied. She does seem to get put out if we're gone long, and as I've mentioned in other posts, tends to leave evidence of her displeasure.... usually chewed paper, chewed toilet paper. She is now back in her crate because she ate one of Russell's bandannas.....

When Kira came to us a year and a half ago, she had serious separation anxiety issues, and carried on like you wouldn't believe!!! We were terrified to leave her alone, having Cora there seemed to really help. Occasionally, Cora & I would have a pet therapy appointment, and Russell would be off at Scouts. After time, Kira started doing alot better, and I can't believe the difference. She will still make a ruckus if we're out in public. For example, when we had her in the pen at our Water Test back in August, she would bark and cry very loudly if one of us wasn't right there. I do think she just doesn't want to miss out on the activity.

Sailor, well, Sailor just wants to GO with us. He's the kinda guy that likes to be out and about, so when we're getting ready to leave, he tries to get ready to leave. He is quite clever.... he blocks the door with his 200 pound body, and won't budge. And while he is also very food motivated, he'd still rather go with us!!!

"Cora is food motivated, and will sell her soul for a treat."

LOL! Sounds just like our monster. Now that he's older and larger, he's learned to use his size to his advantage. He gets this attitude like "Nope, can't move me unless you give me a treat."
