Funny habbit

So in order to keep Teddy from over heating and panting all night, i've been letting him sleep outside the kennel with a bowl of water out. With summer coming, I think the bowl will evolve into a 5 gallon bucket!

But I've noticed some funny habits. He doesn't know what to do with all this freedom! Randomly during the night he'll think that it's play time and will start licking my feet to wake me up and play. He'll also get up, wander around and then pick a new spot to lay (I imagine that he might be looking for a cooler spot on the ground, but it's still kind of funny).

Just thought I'd share. He's so goofy.

He also tries to sneak up onto the bed during the night, but he's not big enough to get up, and he's not allowed up anyway. It makes me chuckle though.

We can hear Elvis adjusting throughout the night too. During the day he has several different nap spots and will rotate about every two hours or so.

I'm also one of the "meanies" that doesn't let Elvis on our bed. In fact, he's never even seen our bedroom!

I definitely think it's looking for a cooler spot! Suki does this too. One idea that might help on hot nights is to freeze a chunk of ice (maybe a cool whip container?) and give that instead of water? Maybe you want to first make sure he doesn't try to chew the whole block at once before you leave him unattended with it??

Wow, that's an interesting idea. i've actually never thought of that. I've given him ice cubes before, and put ice in his water bowl to help slow him down a bit, but i've never considered freezing the entire container. Brilliant!!

I live in Northern Nevada, so we have really cold winters and VERY hot summers, and I was frantically trying to figure out ways to keep him cool. I LOVE this idea! Thank you!
