Frontline Allergy?

I used Frontline on all of the dogs 2 weeks ago and noticed last night a huge scabby area on back of my Koda's neck where the Frontline was applied. I checked the rest of her body and found nothing. I called our Vet and he had never heard/seen anything like this from Frontline but assumed it probably was an allergic reaction. I have always used Frontline on all my dogs with no issues, she is now 2, is it possible that she suddenly gained an allergy?

Yes, it is possible. Like people, dogs can be fine one day and allergic to something the next. I have known this to happen to happen on other occasions with the use of these topical meds.
The medication actually could have caused the "burn" or it itched and she scratched at it creating a scabbing.
Or it could be the start of a completely unrelated hot spot. Is the spot open at all or just crusty/scabby?

I have dealt with hot spots on my other Newf as he has numerous allergies....this is not a hot spot. Just scabby and dry. I combed the area and all of her hair fell out leaving just the scabby skin. I applied Neosporin hoping to help with healing. Unfortunatley no suggestions were given from the vet. The area does not seem to bother her. She never scratched it and didn't mind my combing the area. I think it should heal okay since she isn't bothering it but I am concerned about what flea med to use. I have a fear of all meds that use Permethrin....K9 Advantik, Vantra, Bio Spot, etc. The vet suggested using Frontline again to see if the same occurs but I'm not alright with that either, what if her reaction is worse next time? Grrrr.....

Don't use the Frontline again! AND...never put it in one spot as the package suggests either. Put it in several small spots in betweent the shoulder blade area..
My Pae had the same reaction using the Frontline. It burned her skin. Your vet should have given you some Dermalone creame to use on it.
They were out of the K9 Advantix that I normally use so I bought Frontline instead and never again. I didn't wait. As soon as I noticed it I shaved a small spot to allow air to get to it and immediately started using the Dermalone creame. Took a day or so and it started to clear right up. Her hair is growing back with a vengence.

My Chow could not use any topicals. She had allergies like crazy.

I tried a whole raft of different topicals. All yielded the same result. Eventually I had to use a flea/ tick collar called preventic. It is primairly used in field dogs and actually was more effective than that of the topicals.

Frontline seemed ineffective on Sadie. We had to goto Advantix for her.
