I have to give a big shout out to all of you that rescue. I don't know how you all do it, but, god bless all of you... My first foster failure was several months ago, he had a rough start in life, so we have a beautful newfie mix. My second newfie rescue boy will also be here to stay. He also has had a very difficult life as well.. I become much to attached. So I am proud to say...I am a Foster Failure.

Anyone else?

My Rufus that just passed away was a foster failure. He was a lab/newf mix. I knew in less than a week that he was here to stay.

I've fostered other mix breed dogs, and while I adored them, they just never clicked with the household as much as my Rufus did and they all went on the find great forever homes.

Be careful or you'll catch up to us......

Best of luck with your new foster failure!! Hugs to you and your family for doing this!

I know River King Nef Club was looking for a foster home for a new rescue from a shelter in MO just this week. In a joking way I mentioned it to "Grandma". I don't think "Grandma" is ready for that. Either the dog will be destructive, Snuffles jelous and cause problems, or we will fall in love and want to keep it, and that would be too much too

I do have to wonder how folks do it. Short term maybe, but months, I am sure I would end up keeping the pup.

We are up to 5 now. 3 Newfs...1 Sheep dog mix and 1 newfie/lab mix. At this rate, we will need a bigger house in no time!! It is a great club to be a part of though!

I have never tried to foster, mainly because I am one of those people that when it is in my house that is it it is mine forever!

I started as a foster mom for Glory, she left us, but came back to stay with me forever.

Otis was a foster that I decided I needed to keep.

Zeki was a foster that came to stay.

Sancha was a foster that also came to stay.....

So yes, I have failed many many times.....

We fostered Brenna (before and after pics below). She came to us last fall, as a filthy, matted, sick girl. We cleaned her up and got her healthy, then adopted her out (Rescue was placing her). A week later, the family who got her decided that she wasn't going to work out, so they asked if we could take her back. We had missed her sooooooo much, and couldn't wait to go pick her up.

Brenna BEFORE (2 pictures):

Brenna NOW (2 pics):

Brenna (in foreground) and Maggie (behind)...waiting for breakfast:

Yup...we're foster failures! Brenna is now a permanent member of the family.

I have to say though, that when I get emails and pictures of the dogs we have fostered who have moved on to a new home and life, and the person tells me "Thank you so much for saving this baby and bringing him to our life" If makes it worth it all. There are times that I have been sure I was going to quit rescue for good, and then I get one of those emails and I think, "Ok, just one more dog......" But, we all know they are like Pringles and you can't have just one!

Boundless, those first two pictures just make me want to BITE someone.

There are people out there that don't even deserve to LOOK at a living dog.

Out of wild curiosity, why did they think she wasn't going to work out? Was it her, or them? Maybe they weren't screened well to know what it was like to adopt a Newf?
