Ok we started Harley on Fish Oil (on the advice of the vet due to dry skin and fur) but today he has really really bad diarrhea....

(btw he's currently testing WORM FREE)....

could i be giving him too much?

will he get used to it?

We just started our two on it. It's really rich, so I give Zeke about half. I'll increase it a little at a time and see how he does.

We use Salmon Oil - liquid. We've never had loose stools on it.

One thing about those capsules. You don't know what's really in there or what grade it is.

You might want to try a liquid Salmon Oil.

I use the Gold Seal Wild Salmon Oil, per Peters recommendation. Bär gets one every other day. More than that & he gets loose poops too.

I never had trouble with fish oil on Snuffles either, but it is one gel 2 times a day in his meals.

yes it is I mistyped.

right now my head spins

Harley gets
1 fish oil twice a day (he loves it he chews it up)

he seems to be firming back up still not great...

Hannah won't take the fish oil and I don't force her as she gets
2 pheonbarb pills
1 milk thistle (for liver problems)
1 SB liquid (1.3 mL) in her mouth (and it tastes nasty from what i've been told)

IF you've had such trouble with 'stools' how do you know looseness is even related to the oil? ... why not leave the oils out completely until you are sure the problem with stools is rectified?

We use the wild deep sea Salmon Oil from Wholistic Pet Organics. Our dogs love it and they've never experienced any issues of diarrhea from it.

If it helps, this is the salmon oil I use for my guys (I like it because it comes in 1 gallon containers that I can then pour into my squirt container and it's less expensive....)

I bought some of this brand also, but then realized that it is NOT wild salmon oil. Their website is a bit deceiving because they had a picture of salmon swimming that is labeled wild salmon, but when I called the company they confirmed that it is farmed...yikes! I asked them to remove the misleading picture from their website. I'll have to go look and see if they did it. I was really disappointed that theirs isn't wild because I love the metal bottles...so much safer than plastic.

Patti,

Thank you. I hadn't realized the one I was getting was farm raised. I'm glad to have an option to switch to since I'm almost out of the other one.
